Prosecco is a white wine with Controlled Designation of Origin produced in Friuli Venezia Giulia and in Veneto. It became known in the nineties as Prosecco IGT (typical geographical indication), in 2009 it obtained the denomination of controlled origin (DOC).

Prosecco is the most exported Italian wine abroad.

In 2014 it surpassed Champagne for the first time in terms of the number of bottles sold worldwide.

Since 2019 the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene have been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
