Malfy Gin is a 100% Italian product; the bottle is also decorated with a typical Italian glass processing technique, while the cap is made of Italian oak wood. On the label we find a coat of arms that commemorates the rowing competitions that each year involved the four ancient kingdoms of Italy. The two colors blue and yellow represent the sea and the lemons that grow in the coastal areas. The initials G.Q.D.I. means: "Quality Gin Distilled in Italy". Malfy Gin is produced using lemons from Amalfi and Sicily in the Torino Distillati di Moncalieri distillery, founded in 1906 and managed by the Vergnano family. The two Malfy Gin distillers are Beppe Ronco and Denis Muni. Their gin boasts the record of being the first Italian gin exported to the USA. On the official website of Malfy Gin it is stated that gin was invented in Italy. In fact, one of the oldest proto-gins was created in the year 1000 on the Salerno coast by some monks who infused juniper and other botanicals in alcohol to create a liqueur with a medicinal function.
Malfy Gin is produced with a vacuum-packed stainless steel still. Distillation takes place at only 60 ° C, which is the lowest possible temperature that allows distillation to be carried out; in this way you get the most from the extraction of citrus aromas. Before bottling, the gin is carefully filtered to eliminate oily residues and give the gin a crystalline appearance.
Malfy Gin is exactly as described by the producers: a distinctly citrusy gin. On the nose, in fact, the refreshing notes of lemon prevail, but also on the palate it is the lemon that releases in the mouth first of all, with all its freshness. The flavors of the other botanicals follow, with the driest notes of juniper and the more spicy ones. On the finish the lemon again, but with more balsamic and spicy notes to serve as a side dish. Overall it is very soft, slightly sweet, drinkable.
