The name of the gin derives from Captain Willem Barentsz: Dutch navigator and explorer of the Arctic who organized three expeditions to discover a possible passage to the north-east.
During the last expedition, he was stranded with his crew in Novaya Zemlya (north ocean archipelago) for about a year and died on the return voyage in 1597.
Willem Barentsz Gin is made from a blend of two different grain distillates: English wheat and Central European rye, both GMO-free.

The secret of Barentsz Gin comes from a unique marriage of Golden Rye and Winter Wheat. The creamy essence of rye gives a longer, rounded finish. The grain adds complexity and brings out the sweeter notes that complement the orange peel and our exotic jasmine flowers. Our pioneering spirit is pot-distilled in small batches to ensure our decidedly smooth and superior taste.
