Tanqueray Malacca is a limited edition gin not really easy to find in Italy (only 20,000 bottles for all of Europe) which differs from the classic London Dry for the presence of 3 particular botanicals (rose, cloves and pepper black) which give it its unique exotic taste.
The nose perceives aromas of lime, lavender, rose and jasmine, accompanied by a particular depth of spices, peppercorns and cloves. Good persistence on the palate, with a moderate initial sweetness which then leaves room for the driest notes.
It is a refreshing, aromatic and spicy gin perfect to be enjoyed with a dry tonic.
The production of this Gin stopped in 2000 with the introduction on the market of Tanqueray No. 10. Subsequently, there was a small resumption of production in 2013, which however quickly ran out. Malacca is currently produced in a limited edition in the U.S.A., while the only markets that boast a regular distribution of this Gin are those in Australia and Canada.
The packaging is typical of Tanqueray, with the red imitation wax seal in the lower part of the bottle neck. Compared to the vintage version (pre-2000 bottles), the label has changed and for this reason these productions, easily recognizable, have reached a truly unimaginable cost. The new label highlights the "exotic" character of this Gin, with references to the territories of Southeast Asia and the indication of the three characterizing botanicals: rose, cloves and black pepper.
