Malfy Gin Original is a classic “juniper forward” gin, therefore dry, with predominant notes of juniper, combined with a freshness given by very light citrus notes and a hint of spicy notes of coriander.
Malfy Gin is produced by Turin Distillati di Moncalieri, a distillery founded in 1906 and managed by the Vergnano family. The two Malfy Gin distillers are Beppe Ronco and Denis Muni. On the official website of Malfy Gin it is stated that gin was invented in Italy. In fact, one of the oldest proto-gins was created in the year 1000 on the Salerno coast by some monks who made an infusion of juniper and other botanicals in alcohol to create a liqueur with a medicinal function as well.
Malfy Gin Original is produced with a traditional Italian stainless steel vacuum alembic still with Italian juniper and Italian winter wheat (gluten free). It is brought to gradation with spring water from Monviso (the purest and highest source in Italy).
The original Malfy Gin recipe consists of Juniper, Coriander, Cassia, Angelica, Iris, Licorice, Orange, Grapefruit and Lemon and the water with which it is cut comes from Monviso.
The bottle clearly illustrates the Italian provenance, remarked several times by the label and by the glass itself.
The scent of the Original Malfy is aromatic, with earthy and citrus notes that go very well with the classic Juniper. Drunk neat, the citrus note is evident, soft and drinkable. A Gin with a marked personality, due to the base from which the different versions are produced, which is also found in the Original. In the long run, the spicy notes emerge.
